(“And He Called”)
Leviticus, the third book of the Old Testament, is actually the Latin name found in the Septuagint with reference to Jacob’s third son, Levi and the priesthood assigned to his sons. Its true name is found in the Tanakh (the Hebrew Bible) -- Vayikra, meaning “and He called.” Throughout the book of Vayikra one finds God calling, usually at the start of a chapter: “and He called,” “and Yahweh called,” etc. The Hebrew slaves were freed because Yahweh called them to serve and worship Him. He has saved and called us to be a kingdom of priests who worship and fellowship with Him. The book of Vayikra is, therefore, a book of the call to worship and fellowship, giving the specific details on what is acceptable worship, including the approach.
Regarding our Logo
In both the Hebrew and Greek, the Bible uses the word “star” in several references where God makes reference to His agents a.k.a. angels. Here is what Numbers 24:17
says prophetically of Jesus:
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not near: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
Jesus says this in Revelations 22:16
I, Jesus (Yeshua), have sent My angel to testify unto you these things in the churches (assemblies). I am the root and the offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.
When I look at the Star of David, I see two distinct triangles, where the top represents Father, Son & Holy Spirit and the
bottom represents tri-partite man -- spirit,
soul and body, intersecting to show covenant
relationship. This comports with what God taught me
years ago in explaining the Cross: the bars meet where God and man are
reunited in Christ Jesus, God our Saviour (Romans 5:1, Colossians 1:20). The Cross in the center of the Star of David
in the logo represents the same revelation:
the Tri-partite God linked to His
tri-partite man through the Cross of Yeshua Ha-Mashiach, God our Saviour. All -- whether Jew or Gentile -- is at the center of God’s heart, Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth (I Timothy 2:4).
